What You Will Learn:

Plants are the language of the green industry. Mastering plant identification and understanding plant growth are essential skills for the horticulture practitioner. The session will highlight the curriculum of the Georgia Certified Landscape and Plant Professional Study manuals and help those preparing for certification or brushing up on their horticulture skills.

More About the Presenter (s):

Greg Huber is a public service and outreach faculty member at UGA. He leads the Georgia Certified Landscape and Plant Professional Programs through the Georgia Center for Urban Agriculture. Huber holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Georgia and is a registered landscape architect. He is the past recipient of the Southern Crescent Technical College Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Education and the Georgia Green Industry Association Educator and Communicator of the Year Awards.

Wayne Juers has over 50 years invested in Georgia’s Green Industry. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated his passion for teaching horticulture to students and green industry professionals. He is a graduate of The University of Georgia. He taught high school in the 1970s and was at Pike Nurseries for 30 years. He developed Pike’s training programs and taught them. He also developed an effective recruiting process for Pike’s Nursery. Following retirement from Pike’s, Wayne opened his own company on October 1, 2008, and they are still thriving in today. He facilitates green industry certification programs and testing as well as the GGIA Jr Certified Plant Professional program. Wayne has served as Chairman of GGIA twice.
