What You Will Learn:

This presentation focuses on considerations for landscape selection and landscape maintenance using native plants. Much of this presentation will highlight experiences with plant availability and sourcing, 'nativar' versus native species and ecological considerations. In addition, opportunities for native plant breeding and use will also be presented.

More About the Presenter (s):

David Berle recently retired as an Associate Professor from the University of Georgia. He has worked in the horticulture industry for over 40 years; the last 23 years in higher education. He once owned a small liner nursery (specializing in native trees), operated two differentlandscape installation and maintenance businesses, worked for the State Botanical Garden of Georgia and the UGA grounds Department. David Berle has theperspective of grower,landscape contractor, designer, and educator, having worked and taught in both fields in North Carolina and Georgia. He continues to teach courses on horticulture, organics, landscape management and design part-time while enjoying the retirement phase of his life.
