More About the Presenter (s):
Dr. Nar Ranabhat is an Assistant professor and Extension Plant Pathologist in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at the University of Tennessee. He completed his master’s degree at Montana State University, where he studied how agronomic practices impact the incidence and severity of soil-borne and foliar fungal diseases as well as mite-transmitted wheat viruses. Dr. Ranabhat earned his Ph.D. in Plant Pathology at Kansas State University, focusing on the characterization and phylogenetic analysis of wheat viruses. Following his Ph.D., he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Plant Biosecurity lab at Kansas State University, focusing on the diagnosis and detection of select agent bacterial pathogen.
Currently, at the University of Tennessee, Dr. Ranabhat lab develops research and extension programs that emphasize applied research aimed at identifying and managing the critical disease challenges in the landscape and nursery plants. With over a decade of experience working with mite transmitted viruses, he is currently working on a multi-state collaborative project to develop sustainable rose cultivars that can combat rose rosette disease.
