What You Will Learn:
This two-hour workshop will first include a lecture on key weed identification characteristics, life cycles, and how proper identification can help manage weeds in a more effective and economical manner. The presentation will also focus on weed identification resources that are available. To help attendees better learn and understand weed identification, the second portion of the workshop will be a hands-on weed identification lab where attendees will see and identify live samples of 30 different weed species.
More About the Presenter (s):
Dr. Chris Marble is an associate professor of ornamental and landscape weed management in the Department of Environmental Horticulture at the University of Florida. Marble is a passionate horticulturist and educator, studying the growth and management of weeds and invasive plant species in landscapes and ornamental plant production. Marble’s research program aims to develop new methods of weed control using an integrated approach combining both chemical and non-chemical treatments.
